1. Who we are

Doctors in Ministry is a United Kingdom based organisation dedicated to integrating medicine and Christian ministry. We operate the website doctorsinministry.org, the Bible Quiz portal at quiz.doctorsinministry.org, and the Doctors in Ministry School of Mentorship.

For the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), Doctors in Ministry is the data controller of the personal data we collect through our websites and services.

3. Why we collect your data and our lawful basis

Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for every type of processing we do. The table below sets out our purposes and the lawful basis we rely on.

4. Special category data (your religious beliefs)

Your denomination is "special category data" under Article 9 of UK GDPR because it reveals your religious beliefs. We process it only with your explicit consent, which you give when you register.

Withdrawing consent for denomination data does not affect your ability to take part in the quiz or use any of our other services. We will simply remove that field from your record.

5. Children's data

Our services are intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The registration form requires you to confirm you are at least 13 years old.

If you are under 18, we recommend that you discuss your participation with a parent or guardian.

If you become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact [email protected] and we will delete it immediately.

6. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your data to anyone. We share it only with the following service providers (called "processors" in data protection law) who help us operate the platform. Each is bound by a Data Processing Agreement requiring them to protect your data and process it only on our instructions.

8. How long we keep your data

9. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

To exercise any right, email [email protected]. We will respond within one calendar month. There is no fee unless the request is excessive or repetitive.

Our quiz portal at quiz.doctorsinministry.org uses the following types of cookies:

If we add analytics or other non-essential cookies in the future, we will display a cookie consent banner and obtain your consent before any such cookies are set.

Our static website doctorsinministry.org does not currently set any cookies of its own.

11. How we keep your data secure

We take the security of your data seriously. Our measures include:

12. Data breach response

If we discover a personal data breach, we will:

  1. Investigate within 24 hours
  2. Assess the risk to affected individuals
  3. Notify the ICO within 72 hours where required
  4. Notify you directly if the risk to your rights or freedoms is high
  5. Document the breach and our response in our internal records

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version date is shown at the top of this page. If we make significant changes, we will notify registered participants by email and post a notice on our website.
