Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for every type of processing we do. The table below sets out our purposes and the lawful basis we rely on.
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Running the Bible Quiz Competition | Performance of a contract (you sign up, we deliver the quiz) |
| Sending you transactional emails such as login links and results | Performance of a contract |
| Publishing public leaderboards using usernames only | Legitimate interests (transparency of competition results) |
| Sending newsletters | Consent (you tick the opt-in box, you can withdraw at any time) |
| Detecting and preventing cheating | Legitimate interests (protecting the fairness of the competition) |
| Reporting on participation demographics (country, age band, denomination) | Legitimate interests, plus your explicit consent for denomination |
| Responding to your enquiries | Legitimate interests |
| Complying with legal obligations such as tax, accounting and charity reporting | Legal obligation |
Your denomination is "special category data" under Article 9 of UK GDPR because it reveals your religious beliefs. We process it only with your explicit consent, which you give when you register.
You can:
Withdrawing consent for denomination data does not affect your ability to take part in the quiz or use any of our other services. We will simply remove that field from your record.
Our services are intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The registration form requires you to confirm you are at least 13 years old.
If you are under 18, we recommend that you discuss your participation with a parent or guardian.
If you become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact [email protected] and we will delete it immediately.
We do not sell your data to anyone. We share it only with the following service providers (called "processors" in data protection law) who help us operate the platform. Each is bound by a Data Processing Agreement requiring them to protect your data and process it only on our instructions.
| Processor | What they do for us | Where data is stored |
|---|---|---|
